Everyone around here remembers B-Day. “B” as in the insect, obviously. Stop in any diner in Whatcom County - The Horseshoe is a popular spot - and just ask. But make sure you’ve got an exit strategy to get back out to the parking lot. You’ll be mobbed.
What I heard? There was the call mid-morning to the sheriffs office. A semi had flipped over on I-5.. Driver fine. Blocking the road though. So they dispatched Carson.
When Carson got there, he radioed back.
EMT almost here.
Will check with driver.
Then incident report.
Go ahead and send Edmond’s.
He was referring to Edmond Family Towing LLC. They were used for big jobs like this on this stretch of I-5 up ‘til Canada. Office called Edmonds.
You’re looking at about 15-20 minutes.
They always said 15-20. They were always there in 10. But a lot can happen in 10.

Before things got crazy, he checked in with the driver. Carson asked what the cargo was.
250 million bees?
Commercial honey.
The driver stood up from the curb. Thought he’d better go and make sure the interior containers weren’t all messed up. Neither of them had really thought about what would happen if they were, though.

The padlock was just barely off. BAMMMM. The doors blew open with force. Out rushed all 250 million. And I think Whatcom County will always remember the day we saw an entire semi lifted into the sky, buzzing steadily in the direction of the Canadian border crossing.
