SUMMARY: I draw and write to inventory our world and its history; how humanity shapes our landscapes and ourselves through patterns, both creative and destructive. I make work about agriculture and religion - two of mankind's oldest aspirations to goodness - while also asking questions about where these aspirations break down. And, most importantly, how to put the pieces back together.
ART NOTES: My aesthetic tendencies are informed by global religious iconography, folk art, and my background as a printmaker, creating work that echoes each of these lineages of traditional craftsmanship while provoking questions of our present era. Specific artists that influence my practice include Andy Goldsworthy, Albrecht Dürer, Georgia O'Keeffe, but above all I am influenced by the works of uncountable nameless craftspeople that have contributed to folk art around the world since the time of antiquity.

WRITING NOTES: My voice as a storyteller was formed by that of my grandfather and the tales he would tell on the family ranch when I was growing up. My writing pulls from this influence, while often holding qualities identified in magical realism, journalism, religious texts, and classic Westerns. In terms of authors, none have impacted me more than Gabriel García Márquez. The classic One Hundred Years of Solitude is my favorite novel of all time.
